We have already talked about the symptoms and side effects of alkalizing spondylitis here in this article we will discuss some of the other exercises which in addition to the previous exercises we already discussed the physical properties can suggest you and the safety tips for performing these exercises

Corner Stretch

 For Performing this exercise stand in the corner facing forward towards the corner then open your arms and extend them across your chest and rest the palms of your hand on the wall gently press your chest forwards towards the corner you will feel a slight stretch in the chest and upper arms try to hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds take a 5 second short break try  to perform this exercise up to five times once daily

Deep Breathing

This exercise is significantly helpful for dealing with the secondary symptoms of ankylosing spondylitis deep breathing exercises will help to expand and improve the lung capacity and keep your rib cage flexible so that ankylosing spondylitis doesn’t affect your rib cage pull the air deep into your chest as you inhale and exhale the air slowly repeat this exercise for 5 minutes a day

Cardio Exercises

One of the great ways to perform cardio exercises for dealing with spondylitis is swimming it is a great way to increase the flexibility of your spine neck and shoulders it is is also one of the most easy aerobic exercise walking running and cycling are also easy exercise for people with spondylitis try to perform aerobic exercise for 30 or more minutes a day 

it is OK to start with only 10 minutes daily and increase the time gradually for some people who are suffering from advance ankylosing spondylitis running and cycling may not be safe activities because of stiffness of back so make sure that you check in with your physical therapist and health care provider to determine which exercise is a best for you

Safety Tips

Don’t force your body at once it is always safe to make small steps and keep the following tips in your mind

  • Don’t perform any exercise which causes pain or increases pain a little less after what may be alright but don’t exaggerate it
  • Immediately talk to your health care provider or physical therapist if you want to perform any high impact exercise like running instead of working which requires a lot of twisting you may be allowed to perform these exercises but a lot of caution is required
  • If you are suffering from a flare you may not be able to perform your normal exercises. In this case, listen to your body and check-in with your health care provider and don’t perform any exercise by your own
  • If you are just starting an exercise program for the first time start gently you can increase the frequency and intensity when you feel that you are used to the exercise
